Just some 4 miles from Chepstow and The Severn Bridge, an exquisite three storey listed period house with a fine rear aspect overlooking its own land to the nearby Severn and Cotswolds beyond. Recently substantially refurbished by the vendors and very tastefully decorated throughout this is an elegant, very spacious yet manageable and comfortable family home with luxurious modern fittings blending with period features. All services have been replaced. There is a new luxurious kitchen, new bathrooms and a single storey extension providing a wonderful sitting area off the family kitchen.

There is an impressive hall, fitted cloakroom, 32ft drawing room, formal dining room, study and the heart of the house - a huge 'L' shaped open plan kitchen/family/sitting room, with luxury fittings and an 'Aga'. Upstairs are 6 bedrooms, including a wonderful master suite. In addition there is an excellent cellar and a playroom/home office. Much of the front boundary is a high wall and the approach is through a gated entrance over a long drive to turning, parking and detached coach house. There are beautiful formal gardens, a classic Victorian walled garden and valuable pasture. In all about 7.5 Acres.

HISTORICAL NOTE - STROAT HOUSE is believed to date from around 1690 and in 1750 the house 'and an estate' was owned by the vicar of Tidenham who resided here. The most notable resident was a Captain Thomas Fenton, who survived both the Peninsula Wars and the Battle of Waterloo apparently without a scratch! He served with the 4th Dragoons and Scotch and Greys, and commanded a troop at Waterloo. It is believed he used part of his 'prize money' to gentrify the house and he added the stone quoins, the classical pediment and the archway in the high stone wall to the front.
