Property News - Kirstie and Phil tell us where to invest

As interest in the UK property market continues to rise, Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer have decided to offer some instruction on where to invest.

In a one-hour special of Location, Location, Location this week, the celebrity property gurus will outline some of their hottest tips for house buying in the UK.

They will be considering factors including where the big money is going, how many restaurants and bars are opening up and the number of students in the area.

Prospective landlords will perhaps be alerted to the fact that the five hottest tips are all notable student cities, with investors able to make steady income from this major tenant group.

Brighton and Hove is an example, but it is also a region that has benefited greatly from the economic power of the gay community. This week's show predicts that house prices could rise by as much as 47.4 per cent during the next five years.

Manchester is another hot tip and it is a city that has remarkably managed to thrive after the hugely destructive IRA bombing of 1996. A £700 facelift gave Manchester a welcome boost and it has since gone from strength to strength.

The show will also highlight some of the less sensible investment options in the UK, which will be of interest to first-time buyers and seasoned investors alike. Next year's university starters will also be keen to see exactly how much they can expect to pay in rent in their chosen university city.
