Buy-to-let hotspots revealed

Landlords in the UK have been alerted to a forthcoming report that promises to shed some light on the best options for buy-to-let investment.

The half-yearly report on the buy-to-let market from UCB Loans will be published at the end of the month, but some of the findings have been released in advance.

One notable conclusion is that Swansea will be the next big focus for buy-to-let activity in South Wales, with the regeneration of the docks driving demand for accommodation in the area.

Colchester and Chelmsford appear similarly promising from an investment point of view, thanks to decent house prices and the advantage of connections with London.

Landlords are also expected to do well in Belfast because of the expansion of the rental market in the city as more and more workers arrive from overseas.

Demand is also high in Bristol, assisted by a strong student population and an abundance of young professionals renting for a few years before choosing to buy.

The new report will also highlight the general health of the buy-to-let sector, with growth anticipated in the coming months.
