Property News - Homeowners move house 2.6 times

On average people move house 2.6 times through a whole period of home ownership, new figures suggest.

Research from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) shows that homeowners living in Greater London are most likely to stay put. One in five never move out of their first house in the region.

East Anglian homeowners are most likely to move ten times or more and in the south-west 12 percent of people will move between six and ten times.

Moving home is ranked as one of the most stressful parts of life however that doesn't seem to bother a lot of people. Around 13 per cent of homeowners in Wales also move between six and ten times.

British people also like to own their own home and the RBS research shows that nine out of ten homeowners wish to pay off their mortgages as quickly as possible.

Moving home becomes a harder task after each previous property because people collect a great deal of things along the way. Homeowners now move with everything including favourite garden plants and occasionally basic house fittings.
