Membership of the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP) has grown as people accept their inevitability, or possibly as they catch a rise on the gravy train.

The association has seen its membership grow ten per cent since the government set the June 2007 launch date in the summer.

Trial AHIPP projects were launched in selected areas of the country in November and will be extended in January ahead of the national launch.

"The response to the early roll out of packs has been hugely positive from both consumers and industry alike," said head of AHIPP Mike Ockenden.

"Consumers are now seeing the benefits of packs first hand and are already telling us how much they like them.

"By June 2007 all buyers and sellers will be able to experience the benefits of Hips with less transactions falling through and much greater speed and certainty in the process."

Despite some entrenched opposition, a snap poll at a recent industry conference revealed that an overwhelming majority of housing professionals would prefer to buy a house with a Hip.
