An overwhelming 95 per cent of landlords are intending to either increase or maintain their current portfolio, lender Bradford & Bingley has announced

An overwhelming 95 per cent of landlords are intending to either increase or maintain their current portfolio, lender Bradford & Bingley has announced.

More than 50 per cent of the 3,500 landlords interviewed for the survey said that they are planning to add to their properties over the next year.

The level of confidence is up on the same period of 2005, when 86 per cent said that they were planning to increase or maintain their portfolio.

"The results suggest that the buy-to-let market will continue to grow," said head of buy-to-let mortgages at Bradford & Bingley Gus Park.

"There are a high number of experienced landlords who understand the returns they are likely to get and are confident about buying more properties."

Just three per cent of the landlords polled said that they were planning to sell off properties.
