UK prices shade short of £200k says DCLG

Average house prices in the UK were just shy of £200,000 during November government figures have shown, the most recent month data has been released for.

The average property in the UK was valued at £199,467, up from £197,987 in October, said the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) statistics.

The figures showed that property price inflation hit 8.9 per cent over the previous 12 months, while the average price paid by first-time buyers reached £153,906.

Northern Ireland was the fastest rising area for prices, shooting up from 31.6 per cent rate increases to 36.6 per cent between October and November alone.

In comparison, growth increased from seven to 10.5 per cent in Wales, from 7.9 to eight per cent in England and fell from 13.6 to 13.4 per cent in Scotland.
