Property News - One in five landowners seek multiple properties

A fifth of UK landlords dream of expanding beyond owning a single buy-to-let property and having a portfolio, a mortgage firm has said.

A fifth of UK landlords dream of expanding beyond owning a single buy-to-let property and having a portfolio, a mortgage firm has said.

Landlord Mortgages told Citywire that one-fifth of landlords build up a professional portfolio, whereas the majority makes one property investment to build up their retirement finances, Landlord Expert reports.

This division indicates the differing approaches to property investment in the UK - with a significant figure having an ambitious approach to property investment which can be aided by finding the best ways to sell or let property, such as avoiding commission-based agents.

According to research from Assetz reported earlier this week by FT adviser, Britain is currently the second most profitable buy-to-let market in the world, with only Poland ahead.

The particular success of Poland is attributed by Assetz to its economic growth and new EU membership, factors which may diminish as it catches up economically with other European nations.
