First Hips orders are received

Posted: 31 Jul 2007 11:06:11 GMT

Home information packs (Hips) are due to be introduced to the home selling process on Wednesday (August 1st).

Home information packs (Hips) are due to be introduced to the home selling process on Wednesday (August 1st).

The packs, which have caused much controversy, will include a number of important documents, including an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).

Initially, only homes with four or more bedrooms will be required to have a pack before being sold but plans are in place for a full-scale rollout across the market.

Despite Hips not being introduced until August 1st, The Hip Exchange, a website that allows sellers to get Hip providers and energy assessors to bid for their business, is reporting that a number of orders have already been placed.

It says that one property has been put forward for a full Hip, while another is applying for an EPC. The firm says that both properties are large and of high value.

"Clearly both properties are not yet on the market and discretion is vital for properties of this value," said Henry Pryor, founder of The Hip Exchange.

"But both have already had prices quoted and the EPC may have been completed and registered in four days time."

Although the packs are set to be introduced in hours, the Conservatives have made a last ditch plea for a delay, claiming that Hips will be misleading buyers when it comes to information on flood risk and other environmental hazards.
