Home information packs (Hips) are being completed at a far quicker rate than was expected.

Figures published by the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (Ahipp) show that an impressive number have already been processed despite the packs only being introduced on August 1st.

The leading pack provider so far is Richards Gray, which completed a pack through Savills in just 48 hours, while an electronic version was available in 30.

The news that Hips are being produced so quickly is being welcomed by many, particularly those who were concerned that their introduction would slow down the market.

"As we have said all along, the industry is ready to deliver, and with our members reporting turnaround times of less than 48 hours, previous claims that the packs would slow down the process and cause disruption have been dismissed," said Paul Broadhead,deputy director general at Ahipp.

"The pack-providing industry has placed considerable investment in ensuring that they are ready and able to process packs.

"Working with technology providers such as Quest and Thinking Applications, pack providers are able to ensure that Hips are ordered, compiled and delivered efficiently, at the convenience of the agent and the consumer," he added.

Henry Pryor, founder of The Hip Exchange, revealed earlier this month that he believes that three-bed properties will be included in the Hips process from September.
