Millions of Britons are prepared to travel over 100 miles within their lifetimes in the pursuit of the perfect home.

Millions of Britons are prepared to travel over 100 miles within their lifetimes in the pursuit of the perfect home.

Research by Zurich Insurance shows that most Brits expect to own around five properties throughout their life and they will generally travel around 125 miles while moving between them.

It seems that the desire to own the property of their dreams is enough to get most Britons moving, even though 53 per cent claim that they do not enjoy moving home.

"The British obsession with finding the perfect property is still going strong, with homeowners prepared to move hundreds of miles to find the perfect home in the perfect location," said Steve Gilbert, home underwriting manager at Zurich.

The most popular region for moving Britons is the south-west (25 per cent), followed by the south-east (14 per cent), Scotland (ten per cent) and the north-west (eight per cent).

It was also revealed in the research that many home movers (23 per cent) are planning on moving to a smaller property.
