Property News - Tenants put location first

Tenants are most concerned about the location of the property the rent, according to a new survey.

Tenants are most concerned about the location of the property the rent, according to a new survey.

Rentright found that 45 per cent of tenants consider this to be a top priority when choosing a rental house.

However, 35 per cent are more concerned by how much rent they will have to pay, 11 per by the condition of the property and seven per cent want to make sure the property is the right sort of size.

The survey also found that most (59 per cent) found their current rental property by searching on the internet.

"The results give valuable information for letting agents and property professionals into what tenants believe is important when looking for a rental home," said Chris Courts, chief operating officer at Rentright.

It follows the release of figures from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors which showed that more people are turning to rented accommodation as they adopt a wait and see approach concerning the housing market.
