Rural market is strong

Posted: 02 Oct 2007 08:52:56 GMT

The price of the average property in rural Britain is rising and the market is thriving.

The price of the average property in rural Britain is rising and the market is thriving.

That is according to chartered surveyors and chartered foresters firm John Clegg, which says that demand for this type of property is on the increase.

Responding to claims of a slow down in the market, a spokesman for the company said that there is no evidence to suggest that this is true.

"There is no slow down. The market is buoyant. There is a shortage of stock and supply and there are plenty of purchases, so the market is quite strong," he commented.

"If you are a seller then this is a good time . If you are a buyer then you are having to pay more for things than you did a year or a few months ago."

Although the spokesman admits that on an individual basis there is no guarantee of a rural property being a worthy investment, he pointed out that most people will see good returns.

"Land is a very safe investment. They are not making any more of it and people like to have something that is tangible, something they can enjoy," he continued.

Property prices across the UK are said to have increased by 0.7 per cent between August and September, according to Nationwide.
