Property News - London buyers want a garden

London buyers want a garden

Property buyers in London want homes that come with gardens and their own front doors.

Property buyers in London want homes that come with gardens and their own front doors.

That is according to Conservative MP Boris Johnson, who said that many Londoners are fed up with "identikit homes".

He made the comments during an address to members of the National House Building Council (NHBC), in which he also called for homes to be built with longevity in mind.

"We are going through a period of expansion faster than anything we have seen in the last 40 years, and if that growth is to be successfully managed we need to build houses that will still be loved and respected in 100 years," said Mr Johnson.

"What the average Londoner wants is a house with a garden and a front door," he added.

Mr Johnson, who has put himself forward as a candidate to be London mayor, told the NHBC that if he becomes mayor he will assure Londoners that "their gardens, their views, their neighbourhoods are not going to be dwarfed by high rise blocks or engulfed in a sea of identikit homes."
