Property investors can make money in the buy-to-let market if they invest wisely.

Property investors can make money in the buy-to-let market if they invest wisely.

That is according to Imagine Homes, which says that the current market conditions are not attractive to speculative investors.

However, this may be a good thing as speculative buyers help to bump prices up.

According to Marc Lafferty from the firm, an experienced investor can still make good returns by purchasing in the right area.

"Buy-to-let is about buying well," said the group sales director. "The UK property market will continue to fluctuate, however, the majority of people are interested in investing in buy-to-let properties for the medium to long term.

"Higher interest rates are squeezing out speculators and those who need to borrow heavily to fund their investments, but people who have capital will continue to look to the buy-to-let market," added Mr Lafferty.

The Association of Residential Lettings Agents recently revealed that tenant demand is at a five-year high.
