Millions of homes throughout the UK are not properly insulated, meaning that many people are missing out on huge energy savings.

That is according to the National Insulation Association (NIA), which says that there are both financial and environmental benefits to having a properly insulated home.

The organisation points out that UK homeowners could save a combined £650 million by insulating their properties and is calling on all owners to make it their new year's resolution to get the work done.

"There's a huge amount of homes that are still inadequately insulated. I think a lot of people are just not aware of the savings and benefits that are available," commented Neil Marshall, NIA chief executive.

"If their new year's resolution is to do their bit to save their bills and help reduce climate change, then great stuff; but I think that the benefits are so great that hopefully you don't need a resolution," he continued.
