Property News - Internet is leading property search tool

The majority of homeowners in the UK prefer to use the internet to help with their search.

The majority of homeowners in the UK prefer to use the internet to help with their search.

A total of 86 per cent of house-hunters told Hot Property that they would always choose the internet over traditional search methods.

Just 4.6 per cent said that they would rather go into a high street estate agency, while 4.4 per cent would use local newspapers and four per cent prefer listings magazines.

Shawn Luetchens, managing director of Hot Property, said that he was not surprised by the results of the survey.

"It comes as no surprise that people use the internet as their primary source for their property search. Online property services… offer real time data across the whole country and across a range of price ranges," he commented.

"It is a simple and concise way to get a whole of market view while also being able to specify exactly what you are looking for.

"However there is still a market for other mediums of advertising, with 14 per cent of people still using papers and high street offices over the internet," added Mr Luetchens.
