Landlords confident about the future
Posted: 07 Jan 2008 11:16:54 GMT
UK landlords remain confident about the future prospects of the buy-to-let industry.
UK landlords remain confident about the future prospects of the buy-to-let industry.
That is what is revealed in a new study from the Association of Residential Lettings Agents (Arla).
The survey, which was carried out in the final quarter of 2007, shows that 40 per cent of landlords intend to increase their portfolios this year.
In addition, 90 per cent do not intend to sell any of their current stock for at least 17 years.
"This is good news for the whole of the private rented sector and for the housing market, particularly as it comes from surveys carried out well after the credit crunch had begun to bite," commented Ian Potter, head of operations at Arla.
"The rental sector is the lynchpin for all our housing requirements and needs continual investment from private individuals as it still suffers from a lack of investment from the institutions," he continued.
Rents are currently at an all time high in the UK as demand for rented accommodation is so high, according to Arla.
