Property News - South-west migration is not surprising

The south-west of England has benefited from huge internal migration in the last decade.

The south-west of England has benefited from huge internal migration in the last decade.

A recent report revealed that the region saw more internal migration that any other part of the UK and the Southwest Property Network (SPN) said that the revelation did not come as a surprise.

According to the association of independent estate agents, the south-west is popular among buyers due to the attractive way of life that it offers.

In addition, it contains a varied range of properties and has a very good transport infrastructure.

"There are a lot of opportunities in the south-west, and a diverse selection of properties. You can get a cottage in the countryside or a waterfront apartment. It's a popular place to be," said SPN spokesman Rob McCabe.

"The south-west has good train links for people who work, which is important. There is a growing community of new companies opening and expanding across the south west, particularly in Bristol.

"There are great opportunities for young people. You get some people who move down here who are young, free and single who want to start a new life… that's a small minority. The bulk is younger families where the husband may be in a reasonably good position," he continued.
