Property News - High quality of life in Bucks

High quality of life in Bucks

Posted: 31 Mar 2008 11:04:10 GMT

A new report claims that people in Buckinghamshire have the highest quality of life in the UK.

A new report claims that people in Buckinghamshire have the highest quality of life in the UK.

Halifax has published a study, showing that the county beat off other parts of the country to come out on top.

It ranked highly in life expectancy, general health, average annual salary, house size, schools and owner-occupier numbers.

Surrey was ranked in second place, followed by Berkshire, Bromley and Hertfordshire.

Martin Ellis, chief economist at Halifax, commented on the findings.

"People living in Buckinghamshire have the highest quality of life amongst all the counties in Great Britain. Average house prices in the county, however, trade at a premium of £21,500 to the south-east region; so there is a price for reaping the benefits of living in Buckinghamshire," he said.

"Half the top 30 counties have average house prices that are below the regional average.

"These counties provide the potential for good value with a combination of relatively low prices and high quality of life," added Mr Ellis.
