Property News - Brits still aiming for dream home

A new survey shows that 60 per cent of Britons still aim to own their dream home.

A new survey shows that 60 per cent of Britons still aim to own their dream home.

It comes despite the credit crunch and shows that property remains a key investment for many people in this country.

According to the Legal & General study, 20 per cent of Brits would like to own a house with country character and preferably in a village.

Failing this, a seaside home is also desirable as are self-built and self-designed houses.

Respondents were split over which county they would most like to live in, with five sharing the top spot.

Cornwall, Devon, Greater London, Surrey and Yorkshire were all voted number one.

"The survey would indicate that people are still quite positive about the future housing market given the number of respondents who still wish to live in their dream home" said Garry Skelton from Legal & General.

"From the responses to their views on dream homes of the future, environmental issues and increased awareness of climate change is already influencing customers' perspective of future home life," he added.
