UK landlords have been advised that now is a good time to invest in buy-to-let properties.

UK landlords have been advised that now is a good time to invest in buy-to-let properties.

Despite the recent market turmoil, landlords can still get their hands on good investments and may in fact benefit from the current climate.

With fewer first-time buyers able to make it onto the property ladder, landlords are able to take advantage of the fact that there is little competition about.

It is a buyers' market at present and sellers are under pressure, meaning investors can get a good price.

"I think to say that the property market is un-investable would be inaccurate," said Paul Collins, property editor at Buy Association.

"Research at the beginning of the year suggested that a lot of buy-to-let investors were looking to extend their portfolios in the coming year because they see it as a good time to buy as a lot of sellers are under pressure at the moment.

"If you are looking to invest, it may be a time to extend your portfolio," he continued.

The global credit crunch has led to a reduction in available mortgages and reduced numbers of first-time buyers entering the property market.
