AHIPP claim Hips help process of buying and selling
Posted: 11 Aug 2008 13:34:57 GMT
According to the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP), there is no doubt that Home Information Packs (Hips) have delivered benefits to both buyers and sellers.
The AHIPP has claimed that Hips have reduced the time it takes to exchange contracts by 12 days on average.
It also claimed that local authority searches now cost 30 per cent less as a result of Hips.
Paul Broadhead, deputy director general at AHIPP said: "Even in their present incomplete form Hips are already having a positive impact on the market. Consumers are benefiting from faster transactions, reduced stress, cheaper searches and better protection."
Mr Broadhead has called for a condition report and full environmental information to be added to Hips to "really drive consumer demand".
He said that delay in delivering Hips early in the process was "letting down home buyers".
A recent poll by YouGov for Leeds Legal found that only five per cent thought that Hips had delivered benefits and 68 per cent believed they had not made a positive difference.
