Green improvements 'dependent upon location'

Conscientious homeowners should consider the location of their property when implementing green changes.

Those hoping to sell their homes will be eager to improve their energy efficiency ratings in order to add value to the property.

However, Kevin McCloud, presenter of Channel 4's Grand Designs, explained that the success of eco-friendly, sustainable improvements depend upon the altitude, location, and direction of a house.

Speaking at the Grand Designs Live show in Birmingham, he lauded the designing, extending and improving of buildings "in ways that take advantage of their orientation."

"Sustainable solutions are very responsive to where you are. Depending on where you live - the altitude, the location, which way you face - your solution would be very different to your friend who lives down the road," he added.
