Housing is a 'buyers market'

The current UK property market represents a golden opportunity to investors that can "buy well" and "negotiate hard", it has been suggested.

According to FirstRungNow.com, a company dedicated to helping first-time buyers get onto the property ladder, buyers should do their homework and look at the full extent of the market.

Helen Adams, managing director at the firm, explained that many homeowners need to sell and there may be an opportunity for buyers to drive down prices.

"It is probably a buyer's market at the moment for those people that have the funds and are prepared to take that small risk of buying now," she explained. "They can negotiate hard."

Ms Adams insisted that adequate research into the housing market will be crucial over the next several months if people are to have any success identifying the different options on offer to them.

In September 2008, the average selling price of listed properties was a whopping nine per cent below asking price, according to research from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
