Property News - Rics: Rise in buyer interest continues

Another increase in buyer interest was noted in March this year after January figures from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) provided good news for the housing market.

Rics published research today (April 15th) showing that new enquiries in the property market rose for the fifth consecutive month in March.

The rise is likely to be a result of several factors, including cheaper property and the falling cost of borrowing money, a statement from Rics said.

As well as a rise in buyer interest, the sales-to-stock ratio also rose for the third consecutive month, which Rics suggested pointed to a possible future stabilisation of house prices.

In a statement, Rics said: "New enquiries in the market increased for the fifth consecutive month.

"Thirty one per cent more chartered surveyors reported a rise than a fall in new buyer enquiries; up from 21 percent in March. Interest is strong in every region with London and Wales leading the way."

In London, 63 per cent more surveyors claimed to have experienced a rise in buyer enquiries than reported a fall.
