Confidence of property buyers 'returns'

Those looking to buy their first home believe they can make money on their property investment.

At least that is the view of the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA), which claims first-time buyer confidence is returning to the market.

According to the professional body for estate agency, property bargains are currently available across then UK.

In addition to considering traditional routes of house buying, buyers may find a property they would like to live in by searching online.

The NAEA comments follow the publication of CML figures showing that house purchase lending was up month-on-month and accounted for 35 per cent of all of March's home loan activity. It was the highest proportion of overall lending for nearly 18 months.

"Responsibility is now the key to market success," said the estate agency group. "The major lenders must be responsible rather than draconian with their lending."
