Insurance advice for people selling property

Those people selling property and buying a new residence have been offered some advice that could save them money.

Financial search engine Tescocompare has suggested a number of tips about home insurance that people moving properties may wish to note down.

The company said that home movers can create some "breathing space" by switching their current policies to cover their new residence until the completion date.

It also claimed that people need to know a number of specific details about where they are moving to before getting a quote on buildings and contents cover. Information on the make of locks and the alarm systems is likely to be required.

Debra Williams from Tescocompare remarked: "Moving home is usually a stressful time, no matter whether you are a homeowner or renter. But there are many things you can do to take the stress out of moving and save yourself some money."

Earlier this month, the National Association of Estate Agents' Housing Market Survey indicated that buyers showed more confidence in the property market in April.
