Property News - 'More confidence in property market'

The latest property figures from April show that confidence is returning to the home-buying market, according to National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) chief executive Peter Bolton King.

His comments come after the NAEA revealed the average number of sales for UK-based agents during the month was ten - up from eight in the previous month. Meanwhile, Nationwide Building Society said the average cost of a UK property was £151,861.

Despite the rise in the average number of property sales, the figure is still down on months in previous years and those selling their homes may be able to prompt interest by privately advertising their property on a website.

However, Mr Bolton King said the NAEA study results were positive news for the whole industry.

"Six months ago people were talking about how British people's attitude to owning property had changed in the recession," he said.

There has always been demand for property, the chief executive added, there was just a lack of confidence.
