Property News - Standards warning for buy-to-let sector

Landlords involved in the buy-to-let sector have been told they must show the "highest standards of customer service" when dealing with their property investment portfolios.

Sussanne Chambers, who has just been announced as the National Landlords Association (NLA) board director, has called on property professionals to ensure they are working hard to maintain the integrity of the industry.

The new NLA representative said that the "overwhelming majority" of the landlords she speaks to see professional development as an important part of their careers.

David Salusbury, chairman of the landlords group, was pleased to announce Ms Chambers' arrival at the national body.

"The sector is going through a period of change and growth and Sussanne is perfectly placed to help deal with these changes," he explained.

Earlier this month, the Association of Residential Letting Agents launched a licensing scheme for letting companies, while the Communities and Local Government department recently proposed a new landlord register to monitor property professionals.
