Ahipp says 95% of transactions involve Hips

Some 95 per cent of all housing transactions are conducted with home information packs in place, it has been suggested.

According to the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (Ahipp), the group is working with local trading standards officers to ensure that this figure moves up to 100 per cent in the near future.

The comments from Ahipp come after reports indicated that half of property sales are being completed without Hips - speculation that the association denies.

There is "strong statistical evidence" to contradict this argument, the Hip representative organisation claimed.

"Further, there is an acceptance among trading standards officers that the clarity provided by April 6th regulation changes will allow them to now start issuing fining notices, where relevant," Ahipp added.

Hips were introduced in the summer of 2007 and have not been widely welcomed by estate agents in the UK.
