Property event attracts the crowds

Property buyers and homeowners are showing interest in sustainable development and green housing, it would seem.

Earlier this week, the Greenbuild Expo event in Manchester was able to attract a healthy crowd who were "very interested in sustainability and environmental issues", according to deputy editor at sustain magazine Steve Oxley.

The Centre for Alternative Technology and the Northern Housing Consortium were two of the groups exhibiting at the event, which ran from Wednesday to Thursday at Manchester Central in the heart of the north-west city.

The Green Register's director Lucy Pedler recently stated the importance of green builds in the UK property industry.

Commenting on behalf of her sustainable building group, she said that the current upturn in eco-friendly buildings has not been adequate to "deal with the incredible challenges that climate change presents".

Existing building stock needs to be "radically altered to adapt to climate change", she remarked.
