Sell property now, says estate agent

People selling property have been told that now is the time to do so by London-based estate agent Jenny Collett.

The sales manager at Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward also told the Financial Times Adviser that people looking to buy a home should not leave it "too late" to act.

Commenting on the overall health of the housing sector, she said that the property market "appears to be rallying" and predicted a good summer for the industry.

"Instructions, the number of buyers and the number of completed sales have all increased over the last month," Ms Collett explained.

Earlier this week, research from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors indicated that the gap between asking and selling prices is narrowing. Some 60 per cent of chartered surveyors noted this trend.

Ms Collett also remarked on a similar occurrence, saying that offers for property are getting closer to the original asking price all the time.
