Long-term buy-to-let prospects 'very good'

Those looking to buy property as a form of investment have been told that long-term prospects for this sector of the housing industry are "very good".

According to Tom Entwistle, editor of online landlord community LandlordZONE, the residential lettings market could prove fruitful for landlords over a number of years.

"Given the unique demographics, planning restrictions, job insecurity, cost of housing etc, selective investing in rental property while prices are low could be an excellent long-term strategy," he explained.

He added that those involved in property investment need to develop a strategy that spans the ups and downs that accompany the sector.

Mr Entwistle's comments come in the week that research agency BDRC published research showing that 17 per cent of landlords view their letting prospects as 'very good' for the next three months - a rise of seven per cent on the first quarter of 2009.
