Property News - Landlords seeing rents rise again

Landlords in the UK have seen rents increase in the last six months, according to editor of Property Hawk website Chris Horne.

He claims that things "are starting to pick up" in this regard, with a 2.2 per cent hike in rents recorded by his site during the half-year period.

"Although they have fallen over the last two years they are actually starting to rise again - that's good news for landlords," Mr Horne explained.

In addition to Property Hawk's observation that rents are rising, the Residential Rental Price Index statistics on the Rentright website show similar trends in the private rented sector.

According to the research, the average rental price for July 2009 was £564 - and this dropped to £531 in August but grew £674 this month.

With Halifax and Nationwide Building Society reporting growth in the average house price in the UK, landlords' assets may also be worth more than they were at the start of the year.
