Property News - Energy-efficient property tips offered

The kitchen and bathroom are two areas of a home where energy-efficient improvements can often be made, according to the curator of the Eco Home Exhibition.

>Alex Goddard asserted that a range of new gadgets - such as kettles, irons and toasters - that use less electricity than their predecessors are worth considering, along with larger appliances such as washing machines or toilets that limit the flow of water.

Outside of the bathroom and kitchen, homeowners may wish to consider adding insulation or a rooftop rainwater collection system, both of which can reduce a home's environmental impact.

Choosing double or triple glazing is another way to conserve energy and potentially cut down on fuel bills, while gadgets can be installed on taps and shower heads to limit the flow of water.

She added that the show should encourage people to get thinking about "the impact that that object has on the environment and perhaps making a bit more of an informed choice next time you want to buy something".
