Property improvement show assessed

The education programme at the National Home Improvement Show "was the real highlight" of the three-day event, according to Michael Holmes from Channel Five's I Own Britain's Best Home.

Reflecting on the gathering in Earls Court, London - which took place between October 2nd and 4th - Mr Holmes said there were "so many seminars" that it was impossible to attend them all.

Property investment experts, homeowners looking to add value to their home and those who just want to make their residences better to live in would have benefited from attending the show.

How people can finance improvements, how they can add space to a property and advice on garden design were three issues discussed over the course of the weekend event.

Organisers plan to increase the number of exhibitors at next year's show, building on the success of the 2009 version.

George Clarke, from Channel 4's The Home Show, said that the occasion gave people the chance to learn how to change their property "into a home that really works for [them]".
