Property News - Home buyers 'resisting to meet asking prices'

There is an increasing resistance among home buyers to meet the asking prices set by those selling their homes, one expert has suggested.

Russell Jervis, managing director at Haart estate agents, says that the majority of offers that are being placed are in the region of 92 to 95 per cent of the asking price.

But despite this, it would appear that house prices are continuing to rise - Rightmove has recently noted that people who are selling their homes are now asking 3.2 per cent more for their homes than they were last month.

Property asking prices have now risen by 6.1 per cent over the past year, with the average home that is up for sale currently standing at £229,398.

And the housing market in general appears to be increasingly buoyant as the statistics reveal that the number of properties coming on to the market is up by 19.8 per cent compared to the same period in 2009.
