Letting market 'could stay strong' in uncertain times
Posted: 28 May 2010 12:37:16 GMT
Landlords could still face uncertain times over the coming months, according to an expert.
Tom Entwistle, director of LandlordZONE.co.uk, is not surprised that the rental market has stayed strong in some areas because of rising first-time mortgage prices and rental properties going up for sale.
He added: "We are in an uncertain period with worries about the economy once again, brought on by the euro crisis [and] new measures to be introduced by the new government."
But Mr Entwistle believes that rents should remain steady and has advised people to buy only if they can get outstanding yields and do not over-gear.
His comments come after the National Landlords Association revealed investor optimism has reached its highest level since 2007.
It found that 57 per cent of landlords predicted their lettings businesses to be good to very good over the next three months and 28 per cent believe markets will improve in the coming months, an increase of five per cent on last year.
