Property prices in east London to increase?

House prices in east London are set to rise at a faster rate than the rest of the capital during the build-up to the 2012 Olympic Games, one expert has suggested.

>Franchisee of Stratford office at Winkworth Richard Everitt said the rejuvenation in the district will boost property prices.

"It is all pinned by the general regeneration of the area. With the Olympics, all it has done is it has accelerated it," he added.

Mr Everitt noted the Stratford City shopping centre - which is due to open in 2011 - will help with the area's revival and this will have both residential and commercial benefits.

Furthermore, he also explained the transport links will play a part in increasing the cost of an abode.

The specialist's comments follow the release of figures from Lloyds TSB, which revealed the cost of a dwelling in the area has now increased by 26 per cent since it was announced the Olympic Games would be held there.
