Expert: People buying a house want the worn in look

People looking to sell their homes may want to ensure their property does not look absolutely perfect, one expert has suggested.

Director of Simon Hamilton and Associates Simon Hamilton said individuals now want things to look "worn in".

"We have had a period of things being very pared down and stripped away and it's a reaction to that and a reflection of a time in which people are unsettled and not sure of the future," he added.

Mr Hamilton noted Britons want things to last and be well built, but the trend for something appearing as though it has been there for a long time is growing.

He explained that individuals are now after a mixture of new products and old gear.

According to a recent report by Santander Mortgages, first-time buyers spend an average of £3,782 on goods for their new dwellings.

However, one-in-six fork out less than £1,000 when kitting out their property.
