Property News - Matching furniture 'can improve the appearance' of a room

People looking to sell their home maybe interested to hear the comments of one expert, who said having a mismatched room can make space look cluttered.

Furniture maker Warren Evans stated matching fittings can help a room to look more spacious.

"To create a coherent room design, I would advise that the style and decor of the furniture all complement each other - otherwise it can create a busy and cluttered look, minimising the space that you have," he added.

Mr Evans noted natural, environmentally-friendly materials - particularly wood - are proving popular among households.

He explained individuals should look for the Forest Stewardship Council logo when buying wooden products, as this will ensure it comes from a managed environment.

Mr Evans observed giving rooms a lick of paint and getting rid of clutter are good ways of revamping a property and that will not break the bank.

The specialist's comments follow the release of figures from Verdict – an independent retail analyst - which revealed Britons are spending more on bedroom furniture and beds, while other areas of the furniture market are continuing to struggle.
