Mortgage brokers 'confident business levels will rise'

Mortgage brokers are predicting a rise in business during the third quarter of this year, a survey has indicated.

According to a poll by Paragon's Financial Advisor Confidence Tracking Index, 24 per cent of brokers have forecast they will handle ten per cent more loan deals than they did in the previous three-month period.

Of those quizzed, 58 per cent envisage an overall increase in activity levels.

And seven per cent of respondents noted they will take on more staff over the coming months.

Paragon Mortgages' managing director John Heron said brokers appear confident about the future of the market.

"The third quarter is always a strange period in the mortgage calendar because it contains strong seasonal anomalies - August is traditionally a very quiet month but September bounces back," he added.

Unbiased.co.uk recently claimed there was a 24 per cent rise in the number of consumers seeking advice on home loans during the first half of this year compared to the same period in 2009.
