Private rented sector more active?

The private rented sector is more active and buy-to-let investors are seeing further movement, one expert has suggested.

Property industry professional Malcolm Harrison said if you look at the divisions on a five to ten year view it is obvious the number of tenants looking to rent will increase.

"An investment landlord is going to look at the long-term otherwise he wouldn't be an investment landlord, he would be an amateur," he added.

Mr Harrison noted proprietors will want to know they will have people to reside in their dwellings.

And he explained the market has expanded more than what had been predicted two to three years ago.

The specialist's comments follow the release of a survey from LSL Property Services, which revealed 42 per cent of landlords think now is a good time to invest in property, while just two per cent claimed it would be an ideal period to reduce portfolios.
