Expert: Homeowners should insulate their properties

Brits who are looking to purchase a house may want to take the comments of one expert onboard who indicated sustainable dwellings are an important part of modern life.

Editor of Build It magazine Anna-Marie Souza said it is vital homeowners insulate their domiciles, as doing so will reduce energy bills and provide a more comfortable living environment.

"Maybe the initial outlay may cost a few pounds, but in some cases [it] will save hundreds in the future. This is especially the case with insulation," she added.

Ms Souza explained there are a number of ways Brits can conserve energy and noted simple steps such as changing light bulbs to energy-saving versions, only doing washing when there is a full load and not boiling a full kettle for just one cup.

According to figures from Thinkinsulation.com, 80 per cent of homeowners have not improved the lagging in their abodes for the last three years.
