Property buyers 'should check what is included' in the price

Individuals who are looking to buy a property are being advised to check with the owner what is included in the overall price when negotiating a deal.

Richard Wilson from Ashley and Peck warned certain fixtures and fittings such as carpet and curtains will not necessarily be part of the sale.

He explained many individuals who are looking to purchase a domicile forget to factor in unforeseen costs.

"A lot of people forget or don't budget for costs such as stamp duty, as they aren't sure where the thresholds are," Mr Wilson stated.

He advised consumers to "shop around" to ensure the best deal is found, including obtaining a mortgage from an independent advisor, as they often have more choice than banks in the high street.

According to research by money.co.uk, the cost of purchasing a dwelling could mean people have to shell out an extra £30,000 than what they had originally anticipated.

This is because buyers often go around £23,000 over budget and then spend £8,000 doing up their new abode.
