Professionally-renovated properties 'are selling well'

Properties that are "tastefully" and "professionally" renovated are selling at a premium across the UK, it has been claimed.

Broadcaster James Max said there has never been a better time for homeowners to invest in their domiciles.

"In a good market, rubbish property sells really well because it is seen as an 'opportunity', [but] in a difficult market, what sells? Really well done up, tasteful, nicely and professionally-done property," he added.

Mr Max explained dwellings that have ditched old-fashioned themes, such as a carpet in the bathroom and net curtains, are worth more to buyers.

Property markets will go in multiple directions, rather than one way and Brits will have to navigate their way through it, he remarked.

The specialist's comments follow the recent release of a survey by Everest, which revealed 18 million people plan to improve their abodes over the next year.

And Brits will fork out an average of £2,831 sprucing up their living spaces.
