Mood lighting could give homeowners' properties the wow factor

A specialist has suggested mood lighting is a cheap way to spruce up a home and give it some unique pizzazz.

Homeowners who are thinking about putting their property on the market next year may want to install mood lighting, as one expert has suggested it can give a dwelling the "wow factor".

Eva Hammerson, head of design at Kandabi, said it can be a cost effective way to brighten up a domicile.

"Unlike most conventional lighting, mood lighting's true raison d'etre is less of a functional and more of an aesthetic and mood-enhancing solution," she noted.

Mood lighting has the ability to make one abode stand out from the next, Ms Kandabi added, which could prove useful to those who are planning to sell their house.

And the specialist observed such systems can make a home look "high-end" and expensive.

According to IMM Cologne's Interior Trends 2011 report, people are no requesting designers push boundaries and create innovative products and many have come up with radical new designs that question the line between the virtual and the real world.
