Easter 'likely to be a lull period' for home movers

The Easter period is likely to be quiet with regards to home moving, it has been claimed.

Property demand is likely to remain low over the Easter holiday, as the time of year often represents a lull period for home moving, it has been claimed.

Jon Brown, partnership manager at iammoving.com, noted the timeframe often witnesses a build-up before activity begins to pick up as the temperature rises.

The industry figure observed the summer months are likely to be "frantic", as people seek a better moving experience in the nicer weather.

He added: "If you are looking year-on-year, you would hope to see a slight improvement in new instructions and new homebuyers."

However, Mr Brown added that it is going to be particularly tricky for first-time buyers over the coming months, as there is likely to be less financial support available to them than there was last year.

Lloyds TSB recently reported that the number of property sales in England and Wales has tumbled by 47 per cent over the past three years.
