Rental income 'to be sustained by tenant demand'

Property News - Rental income 'to be sustained by tenant demand'

Tenant demand is likely to sustain rental income in the coming years, it has been claimed.

It is likely that rental income will be sustained over the coming years by tenant demand, it has been suggested.

Director at LandlordZONE Tom Entwistle noted that the predicted growth of the UK's residential rental market will mean this trend will be ongoing for at least the next half-decade.

The industry figure stated he is "cautiously optimistic" that demand will be able to hold out for this period.

He added: "This, however, must be set against declining house prices in most areas and a slow-growth economy for at least five years."

For people considering becoming a landlord, Mr Entwistle recommended they carry out their market research thoroughly, select their tenants very carefully and purchase properties that are decently valued.

John Alker, director of policy and communications at UK Green Building Council, recently noted the government's Green Deal could hold a number of benefits for proprietors - such as enabling them to properly plan the improvement work they need to carry out to make their properties more environmentally friendly.
